THE GOD KIND OF FAITH

TEXT – Mark 11:12-14, 20-23

MEMORY VERSE – Mark 11:22 AMP
“Jesus replied, “Have faith in God [constantly].”

INTRODUCTION

From our previous bible study, we have been able to establish from 2 Peter1:1 that every believer has been given a measure of faith. We also established that we are not praying or trying to have faith; we have it already. What then is the God kind of faith and why should it be of interest to us believers? From our text above, Jesus clearly explains to us that The God kind of faith is the kind of faith in which a man believes with his heart and says with his mouth that which he believes in his heart, and it comes to pass. If we were to put it in the simplest form, it would be “the faith that confesses what

it believes in the heart.”

FACTS ABOUT THE GOD KIND OF FAITH

  1. We have it. Romans 12:3 (Romans 1:7), Romans 10:8

  2. It is a faith that believes. Mark 11:23b, 24b

  3. It is a faith that confesses (Says what it believes). Mark 11:23-24

  4. It is a faith that receives. Mark 11:23-24

BELIEVING AND CONFESS – KEY TO THE GOD KIND OF FAITH

“But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim:” – Romans 10:8 NIV

We understand from Genesis that The God kind of faith was the faith that spoke the world into existence: “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” Hebrews 11:3. There was, neither can there be any perfect example for us than God himself. God believed that what He said would come to pass. He spoke the word and there was an earth. He spoke into existence the vegetable

kingdom. He spoke into existence the animal kingdom. He spoke into existence the heavens as well as the earth, the moon, the sun, the stars, and the universe. He said it and it was so. That is the God kind of faith. He believed what He said would come to pass and it did.

OVERCOMING DOUBT: FAITH’S GREAT ENEMY

According to Webster’s Dictionary 1828, Doubt is defined as to waver or fluctuate in opinion; to hesitate; to be in suspense; to be in uncertainty; to be in suspense… respecting (regarding) the truth or fact. Other definitions for Doubt are fear, distrust, dread… It was doubt that sank Peter (Matthew 14:28-30). Doubt is common to all people. Occasionally, even believers struggle with doubt. How

then do we overcome doubt?

STEPS TO OVERCOMING DOUBT

Believe in God Romans 10: 13-14

Confess your doubts to God in prayers. Hebrews 4:14-16

Studying the Word of God. Hebrews 4:12, Romans 10:17, Joshua 1:8

Confessing (Speaking) the Word of God. Romans 10:8, Joshua 1:8, 2 Corinthians 4:13

Prayer and fasting. Matthew 17:21 (Mark 9:29)

CONCLUSION

Proverbs 18:21 says Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof, and Ecclesiastes 5:6 says Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error. The key to the God kind of faith is believing with our hearts and confessing with our mouths. Our faith will never rise above the words of our lips. Like the woman with the issue of blood, it is our faith that makes us whole. Thoughts will come and they may persist in staying, but if we refuse to put those thoughts into words, they die unborn. We as believers must cultivate the habit of thinking big things. Learn to use words that will react

positively upon your own spirit. Faith’s confessions create realities. Realisation follows the confession.

Confession precedes possession.
